The all-powerful real administrator account does not show up by default as one of the user accounts when you boot into Vista.  You can have it show up by following the steps below.

  1. Click the “Start” button
  2. Type “cmd” without the quotations in the “Start Search” bar
  3. You will see “cmd.exe” above.
  4. Right-click on it and click on “Run as administrator”
  5. Type “net user administrator /active:yes”, without the quotations
  6. Now log off, and you will see the Administrator account on the welcome screen.

*For added security be sure to change the administrator account name to something more meaningful to you and use a strong password!  To do so, just follow the instructions below:

  1. Click "Start" Button
  2. Click "Control Panel"
  3. Click on "User Accounts and Family Safety (top right)
  4. Click on "Add or remove user accounts"
